Lisa and Morgan

Elopement at See Ya Later Ranch

Showing off the Marriage Certificate

Covid-19 derailed many couples dream weddings and devastated the industry. Vendors scrambled to adapt their businesses just to be able to stay afloat with many of them partnering up to offer micro or pop up weddings.

When lockdowns started in March 2020, my wedding season went from half way booked for the season, to 0 within weeks. All my couples either moved their dates or cancelled all together. I was devastated. Obviously I wondered how my business would survive financially, but I was also saddened by not being able to develop my skill level and add to my portfolio. I had no idea when I’d be able to do what I loved to do again. Things looked bleak.

And then a miracle happened. I had shot a beautiful wedding for some friends of mine a few years ago at See Ya Later Ranch Winery, and developed a great relationship with their staff and wedding coordinator. When they approached me to see if I was interested in partnering with them to offer micro wedding packages to couples for 2020, I immediately jumped on board. Originally they had planned to offer 2 days where couples could pick a 2 hour time slot to get married. So there was a potential of having 8 weddings. However, because of how quickly that day booked up, they opened other dates as well and we ended up with 15 weddings in total that year.

Lisa and Morgan were the first couple to book this package at See Ya Later Ranch, and I have to say, they set the bar pretty high! Originally from Vancouver, this couple booked their date only a week before. They showed up to the winery in true elopement style, without any other guests, ready to get married. She changed into a stunning Ivory lace jumpsuit and he into kakis and a white dress shirt that they had bought the day before at the local mall. We shot first look photos in the vines and their reactions to each other were pure joy!

The Happy Couple

After a few photos in the vineyard, the couple walked arm in arm towards the ceremony site, where marriage commissioner, Marlene Trenholm, was waiting to unite them. With family and friends watching virtually, and 2 staff members as witnesses, they declared their love for each other and became husband and wife. We took a few more photos around the property while the winery staff prepared their private reception dinner.

The First Kiss

Since they were the only ones booked for a wedding that day, their dinner was served under the same arbour where they said their “I Do’s.” They toasted their marriage with a great bottle of bubbly from the winery, and a beautiful sunset view of the valley. It was a perfect day! This was such a beautiful and sweet wedding day. So pure in it’s simplicity.

Because of the popularity of this package, the Winery continued to offer it into 2021 and 2022. I have been blessed to be a part of so many wedding memories at this venue and am forever grateful to them for reaching out to me in a time of uncertainty for the wedding industry. I am here today because they supported me.
